mediAvatar iPad Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It can be used to convert video files that can't be played on your iPad to one of the formats that can the iPad can play natively. The supported output formats are H.264, MPEG-4, and MOV for video and AAC, AIFF, M4A, MP3, and WAV for audio. If you convert a video file to audio, you are basically ripping the audio track and discarding the video.
This converter features a very nice graphical interface. I have seen it in other converters and I think it is one of the best around. The interface consists of a toolbar at the top and some menus, a big space below that where the files in your conversion queue are listed, the conversion settings at the bottom, and a video player on the right.
In terms of performance, mediAvatar iPad Video Converter is said to be really fast. There is support for GPU acceleration if you have the right hardware. It is claimed that CUDA users can experience a 5X boost in conversion speed. Unfortunately, I couldn't test that.
In my testing, I converted an MKV file into H.264 video. The file was 1-minute long and the process took 6 minutes. That is not really fast and I have seen other converters carry out the same operation in half the time.
